- Fri 9th February | 10:00 – 13:00 | The Morrison Hotel, Ormond Quay Lower, Dublin 1
Creative Europe Desk Ireland, MEDIA and Culture, with support from the BAI Sectoral Development Fund, will host a free morning information session and networking lunch in Dublin on Friday 9 February. This session is aimed at authors, screenwriters, composers, visual artists, and performers.
The EU copyright legislation is a set of ten directives, which harmonise essential rights of authors and of performers, producers and broadcasters. This legislation is currently working its way through the European Parliament. Once passed, each Member State, including Ireland, will adapt their current copyright laws to reflect the new European legislation.
But what does this mean in practical terms for content creators working in Ireland? We will explore current Irish copyright law and look at how the proposed changes will impact the artists and performers working in the cultural and creative sectors here in Ireland.
Speakers confirmed to date include:
- Samantha Holman, Irish Copyright Licensing Agency
- Victor Finn, CEO, IMRO
- David Kavanagh, Irish Writers' Guild
