MORE ABOUT BEAM UP
VIBE was a project designed to create the first model of contemporary art temporary exhibition accessible both by seeing and visually impaired people. In that project we have developed knowledge and tools capable of creating an exhibition accessible to all.
BEAM UP project, submitted by the same VIBE partnership, will develop a method that will allow the partnership to move from the production of services to the production of services done in co-operation with the visually impaired in the field of contemporary art.
Cooperativa Atlante, Italy will lead the BEAM UP project and work with the other three partners: Glucksman Gallery, UCC, Cork; Instituto dei Ciechidi Milano, Italy; and MSU museum in Zagreb, Croatia.
The project priorities are audience development and the improvement of skills and competence of the cultural operators. The core activity of BEAM UP will be the design and implementation of arrangements, techniques and devices to make contemporary art exhibitions accessible to visually impaired people.
All the actions will be carried out by local groups of experts, composed of museum operators, the visually impaired and visual disability experts. BEAM UP will disseminate new methods to other public and private institutions, starting with the establishment of a local Stakeholders Forum in each of the project locations. The stakeholders will be museums and cultural institutions; institutes and associations of the disabled, and SMEs belonging to the CCI and related sectors. The project will last two and a half years (2020 - 2022).
