Our first conversation in our series of beneficiary webinars features Kath Gorman from Cork Midsummer Festival, one of Ireland’s most renowned arts festivals, and visual artist, Marie Brett.
Both Kath and Marie have been involved in BE PART- BEyond PARTticipation, a Creative Europe co-funded project. BE PART runs from 2019 to 2023) and is an audience and organisational development project in the field of participatory art practices implemented by ten European and non-European partners.
The project will create a European network of co-authors, supported by artists and organisations to collectively foster new approaches and structures for the co-creation and mobility of artworks. Have a look at our BePart Case Study for more information on the partners and project.
We will talk about their experiences working on this innovative project and how they successfully commissioned a public platform under Covid restrictions.
Have a look at the video work 'Day of the Straws' by artist Marie Brett, commissioned by Cork Midsummer Festival, in partnership with Sirius Arts Centre. ‘Day of the Straws’ is part of BE PART, a project supported by Creative Europe, and is also funded by Cork County Council and The Arts Council, Ireland.
