  • Curzon Home Cinema and MUBI are supported by MEDIA and stream many MEDIA titles. If you're an Irish Film Institute member you can get three months of  MUBI free
  • Television: Some Irish MEDIA projects to watch out for on television include children's animations - Dorg Van Dango, on RTEjr and RTE Player, supported by Slate Development funding awarded to Cartoon Saloon; and Jessy and Nessy from JAM Media showing on PRIME Video.

  • access>CINEMA at Home provides a virtual cinema experience that allows film clubs and arts centre to bring a new or recent film digitally to their audiences. Many of its titles are acclaimed European films supported by MEDIA.  

SEA FEVER | IRELAND | MULTIPLE PLATFORMS

Sea Fever written and directed by Neasa Hardiman had its Irish premiere at Dublin Film Festival. The crew aboard a West of Ireland fishing trawler marooned at sea fall victim to a gradually spreading parasite in their water supply. Hermione Corfield (Star Wars: The Last JediMission: Impossible - Rogue Nation) stars as Siobhan, a young marine biology student who boards a trawler run by a couple played by Connie Nielsen (Wonder Woman 1984; Gladiator) and Dougray Scott.

When the ship hits an unseen object, a mysterious bioluminescent force infiltrates the vessel, and the crew begins a fight for survival while marooned at sea. Supported by MEDIA Single Project funding awarded to Fantastic Films. SEA FEVER will be availble from 24th April from these platforms (with more to be confirmed): Sky Store; iTunes; Amazon; Virgin Movies; Google Play; Microsoft Store; Rakuten; and TalkTalk.

 

VIVARIUM | IRELAND | ULPTIPLE PLATFORMS

Imogen Poots (I Kill Giants) and Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network) star in this sci-fi thriller directed by Lorcan Finnegan and written by Garret Shanley with Lorcan Finnegan. The story sees a young couple in search of the perfect starter home. After following a mysterious real estate agent to a new housing development, the couple becomes trapped in a maze of identical houses and are forced to raise an otherworldly child. Fantastic Films received €50,000 from MEDIA's Single Project funding scheme in 2014 to develop Vivarium. 

VIVARIUM is now available across a number of digital platforms including: iTunes / Apple TV, Amazon, Sky Store, Microsoft Store, Playstation, Virgin, Google Play, Rakuten, BT, Curzon Home Cinema, BFI Player and available to buy or rent on Irish VOD platform, Volta.  

 

PORTRAIT OF A LADY ON FIRE | FRANCE | CURZON HOME CINEMA | MUBI

Directed by Céline Sciamma and starring Noémie Merlant and Adèle Haene. Marianne is commissioned to paint the wedding portrait of Héloïse, a young woman who has just left a convent and is in mourning for her sister. As Héloïse is a reluctant bride-to-be, Marianne arrives under the guise of companionship, observing Héloïse by day and secretly painting her by firelight at night. Intimacy and attraction grow as the women become closer. If you are a supporter of the Irish Film Institute, you can now enjoy three months of  MUBI entirely free.

 

THE TRUTH | FRANCE, JAPAN | STREAMING NOW ON CURZON HOME CINEMA

Legends of French cinema Catherine Deneuve and Juliette Binoche join director, Hirokazu Koreeda (Shoplifters) to paint a moving portrait of family dynamics. Fabienne (Catherine Deneuve) is an aging French movie star who, despite her momentary lapses in memory, remains a force to be reckoned with. After the publication of her memoirs, her daughter Lumir (Juliette Binoche) returns to Paris with her husband (Ethan Hawke) and their young daughter to commemorate its release. A battle of wits ensues as the mother and daughter fight over their versions of the past.

access<CINEMA: Via its national network of non-profit and voluntary organisations, access>CINEMA screens the best of European films across Ireland in 80 venues and film clubs such as Solstice Arts Centre, NavanSource Arts Centre, Thurles; the Galway Film Society, Townhall Theatre; Carlow Visual CentreCork Cine Club; and The Pavilion Theatre, Dun Laoghaire. They have received MEDIA funding through the Distribution Selective scheme
