Culture Moves Europe Mobility Scheme for Artists + Cultural Professionals

Culture Moves Europe 7x3

Culture Moves Europe is a new mobility scheme for artists and cultural professionals.

The European Commission has signed an agreement with Goethe-Institut to implement a new €21 million mobility scheme for artists and cultural professionals - Culture Moves Europe.

The new Culture Moves Europe will become a permanent action under the Creative Europe programme and follows the successful I-Portunus pilot project (2018 - 2022). The scheme builds on the recommendations stemming from this pilot phase.

This funding strand will offer grants to those working in all the sectors covered by the CULTURE strand and from the countries participating in the Creative Europe programme:

  • Artists
  • Cultural operators
  • Host organisations
  • Emerging artists will receive special attention

Culture Moves Europe has a budget of €21 million over the next three years. This will allow around 7,000 artists, creators and cultural professionals to go abroad for professional development or international collaborations; co-produce work and present their works to new audiences. The first Culture Moves Europe calls are expected in autumn 2022. Types of grant that will be available:

1. Individual mobilities action

For individual artists and cultural professionals travelling between 7 and 60 days or groups of individuals (up to 5 persons travelling between 7 and 21 days). Rolling calls for all sectors at once will be open every year between autumn and spring.

2. Residencies action

  • short term residencies from 1 to 3 months
  • long term residencies from 3 to 6 months
  • extended residencies up to 10 months

Calls for each sector will be open twice during the duration of the scheme.
