Berlin Residencies for Film & Media Professionals

The Nipkow residency programme is for international film and media professionals to develop their projects in Berlin. Grants are awarded for a film residency in Berlin up to 3 months plus a €1,500 monthly allowance.
 
The fellowship programme is designed for international film and media professionals to develop and refine projects in Berlin via a curriculum tailored to meet your individual needs and aspirations. In addition to one-to-one mentoring, participants attend bespoke training seminars on various aspects of packaging, promotion, sales and new technologies.
 
Whether you are working on a feature film, documentary, series, animation or trans-media project, the emphasis of the programme is on project development, with the ultimate aim of initiating international co-productions and promoting their worldwide distribution.
 
Ideal candidates are those working on a feature film, documentary, TV series, animation or transmedia projects with an emphasis on project development. Applicant requirements include: 
  • You are a professional writer, director, producer or animator (no students).
  • You have completed a first feature length film (more than 70min.) either fiction, documentary, cross media or series.
  • Applicants who have not completed a feature length film may qualify for consideration if they have had a short film awarded by the following major International Film Festivals: Berlin, Cannes, Locarno, Sundance, Toronto, Venice.
  • The project with which you apply is a new feature-length project destined for theatrical release (fiction, documentary, animation). Drama series and cross media shall be destined for either TV or platforms like Netflix, HBO etc.
The deadline to apply has been EXTENDED to 21st February 2022.
