This is your chance to catch an early screening of Black 47 in the Irish Film Institute (IFI) followed by Q&A with director, Lance Daly! Black 47 tells the story of Feeney, an Irish Ranger fighting for the British army abroad, who returns home to encounter a devastated countryside and a people brutalised by years of famine and suffering. Feeney sets out to avenge the injustices that have destroyed his community and country. The film score is by composer Brian Byrne and was recorded by the RTÉ Concert Orchestra

Black 47 centres on Feeney, an Irish Ranger fighting for the British army abroad, who returns home to reunite with his family. As those around him die of starvation, he encounters a devastated countryside and a people brutalised by years of suffering in a land where chaos has replaced law and order. Horrified by the death and illness imposed upon his own family, Feeney sets out to avenge the injustices that have destroyed his community and country. The film score is by composer Brian Byrne and was recorded by the RTÉ Concert Orchestra. 

The films stars Stephen Rea, Sarah Greene, Barry Keoghan, Hugo Weaving and Jim Broadbent and features James Frecheville as Feeney. The film was supported by Creative Europe MEDIA Slate Funding awarded to Fastnet Films. The film goes on general release in Ireland from 7th September distributed by Wildcard Distribution. The next call for Slate Funding is expected to be announced in September with a likely deadline set for early 2019.
