European Film Promotion Funding for Digital Distribution for Sales Companies

European Film Promotion (EFP) takes into account the current situation caused by the Corona virus which has affected the entire film industry. Many important film festivals and film markets have been postponed or cancelled.

This means that the remaining Film Sales Support funds for promotion campaigns at dedicated physical events - FILMART, the HotDocs Documentary Festival in Canada and the Shanghai Film Festival - can now be used by sales companies for wholly digital approaches to help with the distribution and circulation of European films to countries outside of Europe.

This Film Sales Support Call will run until 31st July and is NOT LINKED to a specific festival or market outside of Europe.


Sales companies may submit:

  1. Single applications OR
  2. A package of a maximum of 5 European films (line-up). The package may include works-in-progress, new films, and as well films that have already received FSS prior in a single application but are still unsold to countries outside of Europe. They could receive a new boost by being included and promoted in the line-up to overseas buyers.

The applications must include:

  • detailed written campaign dedicated to countries outside of Europe (compulsory). Important: To avoid double funding, the sales company must guarantee that they have not received funding from Distribution and Sales Agents Automatic Support 2020 (Action 2 – Support to Sales Agents) or other funds from Creative Europe for the same campaign.
