In advance of the announcement of the LUX Film Prize winner in November, Creative Europe MEDIA is pleased to invite you to a special FREE screening of WESTERN at the Lighthouse Cinema, Dublin on Thursday 09 November 2017 at 6.30pm.
The LUX Film Prize is an initiative by the European Parliament which celebrates European cinema and values. This year’s winning film will be announced in Strasbourg on 14 November 2017.
The three films shortlisted for the Lux Film Prize in 2017 are:
- BPM (Beats Per Minute) by Robin Campillo (France);
- Western by Valeska Grisebach (Germany, Bulgaria, Austria)
- Sámi Blood, by Amanda Kernell (Sweden, Norway, Denmark).
In Ireland, Creative Europe MEDIA and the Lighthouse Cinema have teamed up to offer a free screening of Western by Valeska Grisebach. A story of a culture clash between German labourers and Bulgarian villagers, this is a modern day western which explores economic immigration and integration in a subtle way through character.
The film will be screened at the same time in 10 other European cinemas, with a live question-answer session, streamed live from Brussels. The audience of all the participating countries will have the opportunity to ask questions via twitter and/or Facebook. A moderator in Brussels will pick up the questions and the debate will be transmitted live to this pan-European audience.
