THE WINTER LAKE | ON PLATFORMS IRELAND & UK 15 March

The Winter Lake is written by David Turpin and directed by Phil Sheerin. Starring Emma Mackey, Anson Boon and Mark McKenna. Supported by MEDIA Single Project Development funding awarded to Tailored Films. 

With nowhere else to go, Tom and his mother, Elaine, return to her childhood home in Ireland. While exploring, Tom makes a disturbing discovery in the nearby seasonal lake that forces him into a troubling personal dilemma. After meeting the father (McElhatton) and daughter (Mackey), from the neighbouring farm, their complex web of secrets and lies are revealed to pull Tom and Elaine into a violent confrontation with the darkest parts of human nature.

ROSE PLAYS JULIE | 13 MARCH | IRISH FILM FESTIVAL LONDON

Rose Plays Julie will be the opening film of Irish Film London's St Patrick's Film Festival on 13th March. Written and directed by Christine Molloy and Joe Lawlor and starring Ann Skelly, Orla Brady, Aidan Gillen. Rose Plays Julie is the story of a young woman searching for her biological mother set against a backdrop of misogyny, revenge and longing. Rose undertakes a journey that leads her to revelations that are both devastating and dangerous.

The film was supported by MEDIA Slate Funding awarded to Samson Films. The Irish release is planned for 2021 depending on Covid regulations around cinemas. 

CREATIVE EUROPE MEDIA AT VMDIFF 2021

We are delighted to to partner with Dublin Film Festival on the Playback X DIFF Filmmakers Panel to bring a greater visibility to the rich and diverse talents in the contemporary music scene in Ireland on Sunday 7th March. 

Filmmaker Mike Donnelly V and Musician Erica Cody have put together a vibrant selection of music videos for the 2021 VMDIFF programme which will premiere in Dublin and then travel to nine locations across the globe. You can pre-order the Playback X DIFF programme of contemporary Irish hip hop and R&B videos here.

The Playback X panel will be chaired by Una Mullally from the Irish Times. Panellists include music video directors:

  • Rosie Barrett, director Up De Flats by Gemma Dunleavy
  • Dave Tynan, director Who’s Asking? (Eastcoast Allstars Remix) by God Knows (Feat. Skripteh, Nealo, Mango, Rebel P)

  • Gar O’Rourke, director Gone by James Vincent McMorrow
