Two Irish MEDIA Films to screen at Dublin International Film Festival 2020

We're delighted that two MEDIA supported films from Fantastic Films will screen at Dublin International Film Festival 2020

Vivarium Opening Gala Film | 26TH FEBRUARY, CINEWORLD

Imogen Poots (I Kill Giants) and Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network) star in this sci-fi thriller directed by Lorcan Finnegan and written by Garret Shanley with Lorcan Finnegan. The story sees a young couple in search of the perfect starter home. After following a mysterious real estate agent to a new housing development, the couple becomes trapped in a maze of identical houses and are forced to raise an otherworldly child. Fantastic Films received €50,000 from MEDIA's Single Project funding scheme in 2014 to develop Vivarium. Read our Fantastic Films interview from 2016 in which the team talk about genre films and how their MEDIA funding awards helped their development process.

The film is a European co-production with Brendan McCarthy and John McDonnell producing for Dublin’s Fantastic Films along with Jean-Yves Roubin of Belgium’s Frakas Productions and Alexander Brøndsted of Denmark’s Pingpong Film.

Vivarium also received funding from Screen Ireland, Wallimage, BE TV/ VooTV, the Danish Film Institute, the Copenhagen Film Fund and Eurimages

SEA FEVER | 7TH MARCH, LIGHTHOUSE CINEMA

Sea Fever - Screen Ireland Clip from Epic Pictures Group on Vimeo

Sea Fever written and directed by Neasa Hardiman screens on 7th March in Lighthouse Cinema. The crew aboard a West of Ireland fishing trawler marooned at sea fall victim to a gradually spreading parasite in their water supply. Hermione Corfield (Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation) stars as Siobhan, a young marine biology student who boards a trawler run by a couple played by Connie Nielsen (Wonder Woman 1984; Gladiator) and Dougray Scott. When the ship hits an unseen object, a mysterious bioluminescent force infiltrates the vessel, and the crew begins a fight for survival while marooned at sea.

Keep an eye out for our announcement of an Industry event at DIFF where we will chat to Fantastic Films about their funding and development journeys for these films.
