Creative Europe MEDIA Office Galway is currently recruiting a new Head of Office. This is a challenging senior position involving the management of the company in addition to providing an information and advisory service to the audio-visual sector in the West of Ireland and the Gaeltacht regions.

About MEDIA Office Galway

Creative Europe MEDIA Office Galway is an Information Office for the Creative Europe Programme providing an information service for the MEDIA sub-programme which supports Europe’s audiovisual industry.

The MEDIA Office Galway is part of Creative Europe Desk Ireland – a network of Creative Europe information offices co-ordinated by Fís Éireann|Screen Ireland. The Office is funded by the European Union and co-funded by Údarás na Gaeltachta, TG4, Fís Éireann and Ardán.

Creative Europe MEDIA Office Galway is a member of the Western Audiovisual Forum and works closely with key stakeholders in the West to advance the audio-visual and Gaming sectors in the region.

Head of MEDIA Office Galway Role Description

Note: Application deadline extended to 20th September 2024.

Reporting directly to the Board of Media Antenna CTR, this role involves company management in addition to the provision of information and advisory services to the audio-visual sector in the West of Ireland and the Gaeltacht regions. The successful applicant will be responsible for the management of the Office, including information dissemination, assistance with MEDIA applications and the organisation of key events to upskill and internationalise the sector. This role will be based in the Galway office situated in An Spidéal, Co. na Gaillimhe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all activities relating to the running of MEDIA Office Galway including all financial management and compliance with company law.
  • Information Dissemination - Assist and advise clients on MEDIA opportunities and conduct detailed consultations with applicants from across the audio-visual and gaming sectors.
  • Facilitate client funding applications.
  • Liaise with Government Department officials on the Creative Europe Programme and input on policy as required.
  • Event management including conference planning and production, information seminars and networking events.
  • Board related activities – communication with the Chairperson and preparation of Board Papers.
  • Funding proposals and reporting.
  • Press releases, article writing, design and editorial work on MEDIA Publications.
  • Communicating on a regular basis with industry professionals, funders and other industry agencies and government departments.

Key Requirements for the Role

  • A third level qualification and/or relevant professional experience.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken Irish and English.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills.
  • Strong time-management, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in administration and use of social media platforms: advanced computer skills.
  • Clean Driving License.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a self-starter with the ability to work independently on their own initiative.
  • Have the ability to work with people to help secure EU funding or access market and training opportunities.
  • Have an interest in the creative sectors.
  • Be flexible regarding working hours and travel to Festivals / Events including at weekends.
  • It would be advantageous to have an understanding of European institutions and policies.
