AUDIENCE DESIGN LAB | Apply Now for the October Workshop
The Audience Design Lab is a hands-on workshop from International Screen Institute that is designed to introduce the methodology of Audience Design to the next generation of talented filmmakers, offering valuable perspectives into the contemporary landscape of the independent European industry.
From 10th – 13th October 2023, up to 5 film teams will each receive a tailored, creative workshop on their project led by a highly skilled Audience Designer in which they will explore and identify potential audiences and routes to market for their film. The Lab will be supported by one-on-one sessions with industry experts to better support participants.
This workshop is for fiction, documentary, and animated film teams who are either in late development, or have completed their feature. For projects in development, it will be most beneficial to teams that have developed their projects far enough that they can be clearly defined in terms of story, genre and thus audiences.
The Business & Legal Affairs programme has been designed to inform participants on the legal framework that is required for a film or TV project from early-stage development, to financing, to production, to distributing and reaching an audience.
As the business aspects of an audiovisual production company are dealt with in contracts, the business and legal sides are intertwined. Business and legal affairs can appear quite daunting, especially in the earlier stages of a career in film and TV. Tailored to guide participants through these intricacies, the curriculum provides an encompassing view of the legal framework required to adeptly manage all facets of a film or TV series.
The course starts with the early stage development, to financing, to finally reaching your audience or, as the case may be, your customers like distributors, broadcasters or streaming services. The course will also cover the key areas of the legal knowledge needed to create confidence in the individual when negotiating the terms and conditions of various contracts.
