Awards for MEDIA Galway's Pitch Pilot Workshop Participants
Chloé Pisco won Best Marketplace Documentary Project at this year's Galway Film Fleadh awards after pitching her feature documentary Dances with Whales at Galway Film Fair's Marketplace.
Chloé recently took part in Galway MEDIA office's 3-day documentary pitch pilot workshop with tutors Ove Jensen and Phil Jandaly. Six projects were chosen to develop their pitch pilots over the course of workshop. Twelve industry and student observers were also chosen and paired to observe projects over the three days. Speaking about her win, Chloé said,
'It is so flabbergasting to get votes from such experienced decision-makers and filmmakers in our sector and industry. I am very excited to be given an award for my precious Dances with Whales film before it is even finished. This award is so important to give encouragement to the tireless documentary makers and fiction creators. The highlight is the prize, a one year mentorship with wildly experienced Impronta Films. Congratulations also to Jamie Costello, one of the observers on the pitching workshop who has since pitched his own short documentary and was announced as one of this year's Ceantar Scannán Short Doc Bursary awardees with his short documentary Getting Lost in the Garden.
The successful applicants will receive €3,000 to help them make a short documentary of between five and fifteen minutes in duration. Alongside the bursary, the two teams will be mentored by Galway-based filmmaker Donal Haughey of Hawkeye Films.
