Celtic Utopia documentary at Luke Kelly Festival, Light House Cinema, Dublin, 23 May

Smithfield Square is the setting for the Dublin City Council Luke Kelly Festival on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 May, 2026. This free, family-friendly event celebrates the life and legacy of one of Dublin’s most iconic voices.

Featuring a weekend of live music, storytelling and community-led events inspired by Luke Kelly’s lasting impact on Irish culture. The festival honours Luke Kelly’s legacy and celebrates his influence through contemporary voices, traditional music and community storytelling. The Luke Kelly Stage will feature a standout line-up of Irish talent across the weekend.

Dublin City Council Luke Kelly Festival at Light House

The DCC Luke Kelly Festival has partnered with Light House Cinema this year with two very special screenings:

  • Celtic Utopia, Dennis Harvey & Lars Lovén’s award winning feature music documentary screens on Saturday 23 May at 6.30pm. The film features performances and appearances from artists such as The Mary Wallopers, Negro Impacto, The Deadlians, Jinx Lennon, Poor Creature, Branwen, Lankum, Naoise Mac Cathmhaoil, Rising Damp, Young Spencer, Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin, Róis, Post Punk Podge, Susan Hughes, Tadhg Mulligan, Alfie Mulligan, Múlú, Niamh Moriarty, Cathail O’Mhaoil, Summer Newman, Eimear Níc Ionnrachtaigh, and Eoghan Ó Garmaile. Celtic Utopia was supported by Creative Europe MEDIA's European Co-development funding.
  • In Time: Donal Lunny, a film that celebrates the lasting legacy of one of Ireland’s most iconic and influential musicians, screens on Sunday 24 May at 6:30pm. A founding member of Planxty, The Bothy Band and Moving Hearts, Dónal Lunny played a central role in reviving and transforming Irish traditional and folk music for new generations.
