Re-creation | Opens nationwide 3rd October
In a fictitious trial, twelve members of a jury must decide whether British journalist Ian Bailey is guilty of the murder of French filmmaker Sophie Toscan Du Plantier in 1996.
Based on real events, the film reconstructs, through the discussions between these twelve people, a case that ultimately invites the viewer to draw their own conclusions.
The cast includes Vicky Krieps, Jim Sheridan, Aidan Gillen and Colm Meaney. Re-Creation will premiere on the 8th of July at Galway Film Fleadh 2025. Re-creation is produced by Tina O'Reilly and Fabrizio Maltese. Production companies are Hell's Kitchen and Joli Rideau Media, with support from Creative Europe MEDIA, Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland, Film Fund Luxembourg, Eurimages, Latido Films and Doha Film Institute

In a small house by the sea, a woman begins a letter to an unknown correspondent. Surrounded by the books, mementoes and clutter of her life, her home exposed to the waves of a rising ocean, she writes about the history of lost art. Considering what has been lost, and wondering about her own desire to hold on, she meditates on memory and on art’s aspiration to immortality.
Director Tadhg O’Sullivan will be in attendance to take part in a post-screening Q&A on Sunday 19th October.
IFI Horrorthon 2025, 23rd to 27th October
IFI HORRORTHON, returns to the Irish Film Institute from Thursday 23rd October to Monday 27th October.
This year’s festival will open with the Irish premiere of Chris Stuckman’s Shelby Oaks starring Camille Sullivan and Brendan Sexton III, and is executive produced by Mike Flanagan (The Life of Chuck, Doctor Sleep, The Haunting of Hill House).
The festival will close with Dust Bunny, Bryan Fuller's visually ravishing tale of a young girl who hires a hitman to take care of the monster under her bed. The film sees Fuller reunite with his Hannibal collaborator, Mads Mikkelsen, with a supporting cast that includes Sigourney Weaver and BAFTA nominee, Sheila Atim.
This year, IFI Horrorthon will partner with District Film Club for a special Vampire's Ball event on Saturday 25th October.
In a unique venue takeover, the IFI's cinemas will host three classic films: Let The Right One In and Blade, starring Wesley Snipes and Stephen Dorff; and Lord of Illusions which will be preceded by a talk on Barker's body of work from Dr Sorcha Ní Fhlainn of Manchester Metropolitan University.
The screenings will culminate with a party in the IFI foyer with District DJs on the decks. Expect spot prizes, undead glamour, and more!

An intimate, first-hand perspective on life under siege in Gaza, captured through video calls between Iranian filmmaker Sepideh Farsi and 24-year-old Palestinian photojournalist Fatima Hassona over the course of 2024. Their digital dialogue became a vital record, bearing witness to everyday life, loss, and acts of resistance amid escalating violence. Just one day after the film’s selection to the ACID section of the Cannes Film Festival, Fatima was tragically killed in an Israeli airstrike on her home.
Steve (Ireland, UK), Lighthouse Cinema from 3rd to 6th October
Set in 1990s England, Steve directed by Tim Mielants, unfolds over the course of a single day at a reform school. Cillian Murphy plays Steve, a dedicated but troubled headteacher confronting the imminent closure of the institution. As he fights to preserve its integrity and safeguard the futures of his students, he must also contend with his own fragile mental state. Running in parallel is the story of Shy, a teenager battling to reconcile his inner vulnerability with a propensity for violence and self-destruction.
The cast also features Tracey Ullman, Simbi Ajikawo, and Emily Watson. Produced for Netflix by Alan Moloney, Cillian Murphy and Tina Pawlik, for Dublin-based company, Big Things Films.
