Ukrainian Culture Nights - curated events this November

Ukrainian Culture Nights is a curated series of fundraising events supported by the Creative Europe Desk Ireland in collaboration with Ukrainian performer, composer and curator Olesya Zdorovetska, founder of the Ukrainian-Irish Cultural Platform. Ukrainian Culture Nights will support and showcase the vibrant culture and strong traditions of Ukrainian artists and writers.
On Friday 11th of November we will host a cultural reception with performances and talks at the Museum of Literature Ireland. Olesya Zdorovetska will present a performance of contemporary Ukrainian music and poetry. We are also delighted to invite Olesya Khromeychuk, a historian, writer, theatre maker and the director of the Ukrainian Institute in London, who will read from her recent novel A Loss: The Story of a Dead Soldier Told by His Sister, placing the current war in Ukraine in a historical context.
We will also host film screenings of the internationally acclaimed Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors a 1965 Ukrainian film by one of the greatest and most influential filmmakers Sergei Parajanov in Dublin and Galway. On Wednesday 9th November we will host a drinks reception and screening of the Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors in the Lighthouse Cinema Dublin and on Thursday 17th of November in the Pálás Cinema, Galway.
