Craft Hub is a large scale co-operation project will run over three years (2020 - 2023) and includes nine partners. The project will showcase the wealth of European craft practice and address sector challenges. Craft heritage will be combined with experimentation in disciplines such as glass, ceramics, jewellery, stonemasonry, metalwork, textiles, furniture, digital making and more.
Craft Hub activities in Ireland and in their EU partner countries will include artist residencies, training workshops, exhibitions, conferences, and a Festival of Craft to be held in Carlow. The project will work with artists and makers as well as academics, researchers, and the public to showcase high quality new work to new audiences in Ireland and abroad. The project will also create a multimedia open-access digital repository as a resource.
Craft Hub will run from 2020 - 2023 and will inlcude a total of nine partners. The project will showcase the wealth of European Craft practice and address sector challenges. Craft Hub activities and results will include:
- 305 training workshops to increase Audience Participation
- 42 Residencies
- 7 exhibitions/catalogues
- 2 Conferences
- A Festival of Craft
- A Sustainability Plan for the sector
- 1 Material Library & Database (minimum 2600 material/digitised samples)
- 1 multi-media open-access Digital Repository
- An audience gallery, a blog, and an interactive ‘Ask a Maker’ feature.
