Obituary tells the story of an obituarist who turns to murder when her work dries up. The RTÉ and Hulu show follows the exploits of Elvira, Bodkin and The Dry star Siobhán Cullen, an obituary writer on a smalltown newspaper who turns to murder to drum up business.
The first season of the show was screened by AMC Networks International Southern Europe (Spain and Portugal), Netflix (UK), Britbox (Australia), TVNZ (New Zealand), Proximus (Belgium), RTS (French-speaking Switzerland), RTP (Portugal), BluTV (Turkey & Cyprus) and TET (Latvia).
Directed by John Hayes Oonagh Kearney; created & written by Ray Lawlor.
The second series was co-developed by Magamedia Galway (now Tua Films) and APC SAS (France) and was screened on RTÉ and internationally on many platforms including Hulu in the US and Spain’s AMC.
We are delighted with this production support from MEDIA and the European Union. It's a recognition of Obituary's ability to have international resonances – despite being a story rooted in the West of Ireland.' Paddy Hayes, producer, Magamedia, Galway
