Shaking the Walls (2018 - 2020) will explore concepts of borders, barriers and walls that separate people and places in the Shaking the Walls project. Artistic undertakings in the project will include informal performances, audiovisual art, street art and theatre performances designed for a professional stage. Community participation will be integral to develop audiences as artists and auditors.
The project will inlcude performances of Shakespeare's work that are relevant to the themes as well as community plays and alternative theatre performances presented in different countries.
In 2019, An Grianán Theatre, produced an off-site, immersive presentation of Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale, in partnership with Parrabbola Theatre Company.
In 2020, the theatre’s writer in residence, Guy Le Jeune, will travel on to Gdańsk, Ostrava and Reykjavik, working with Parrabbola’s Director, Philip Parr, to create a new piece work that will be presented at the Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre.
2020 Final Event | Shaking the Walls International Conference, Gdańsk (Poland) 25th - 26th September, 2020.
