StećakLand: Interpreting Art of Mysterious Medieval Stećak Tombstones through Virtual Reality project will apply Information Technologies to the Cultural Heritage of Stećak tombstones in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, and Croatia.

Monumental medieval tombstones called stećaks or stećci represent a Western Balkans regional phenomenon dated between the 12th and 16th centuries. These monuments feature a wide range of decorative motifs, scenes and inscriptions that represent iconographic continuities from antiquity as well as locally distinctive traditions of medieval peoples. UNESCO has recognised the "extraordinary universal value" of these unique cultural heritage objects and in 2016 included them in the World Protected Heritage List.

StecakLand: Interpreting Art of Mysterious Medieval Stećak Tombstones through Virtual Reality project aims to reach a wider audience by reproducing the symbols on the monuments through digital media. Heritage experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro will choose the most representative stećaks to be included in a digital environment called StećakLand.

StećakLand will be a virtual reality application that can be installed in museums. Through this application, museum visitors will learn the history and meanings of the symbols from the stećaks.
