Seminar: How to Create a Great Pitch Pilot

With support from Coimisiún na Meán, Creative Europe Ireland Galway Office are hosting a one and a half hour in-person seminar on how to create a great pitch pilot on Monday 25th May from 09.30–11.00. The seminar will be presented by producer and documentary consultant Ove Jensen.

It will be general information session on how to create a great pitch pilot. Using concrete examples of successful pilots this presentation will outline general considerations about the editing of pilots.

Pitching sessions have become an industry standard for the financing of documentaries. As pitching has grown to be increasingly important, the visual part of the pitch has become increasingly essential for the funding process. A 3–4-minute pitch pilot can either make it or break it when a project is being pitched for funding.

This presentation will be open to all documentary filmmakers interested in creative documentaries as well as students and those beginning their careers as documentary filmmakers.

Ove Jensen

Working in the international documentary sector since 2003, Ove has an advanced network within the industry. He gives lectures and run workshops about project development, script writing for documentary, international financing, co-production and distribution.

Ove launched in 2019 his own company for documentary training and consultancy, entitled Paradiddle Pictures. Among others, he runs the pitching forum at FIPADOC, collaborates with Tokyo Docs, K-Docs, cph:dox, IDFA, M:Brane, Mediterranean Film Institute, Nordisk Panorama, Thessaloniki Documentary Festival and runs the workshop series DocCelerator.

Since 2011 Ove has worked for the Swedish production company Auto Images as Producer and Outreach Manager, which he continues to do. He has been involved in the production of Nelly & Nadine, Touching Freedom, Only the Devil Lives Without Hope, Patriotic Highway, Every Face Has a Name a.o. He is currently working on several new international projects together with Director Magnus Gertten.
