The artist Jan McCullough travelled to Bodø, Norway, to collaborate with artists Alexander Mourant and Bart Lunenburg in the co-creation and presentation of ‘At the Farthest Edge: Rebuilding Photography’ a site-specific sculptural and photographic installation at Atelier NŌUA, Norway.

At the Farthest Edge: Rebuilding Photography’ (2023) was a site-specific sculptural and photographic installation at Atelier NŌUA, Bodø, Norway, featuring work by artists Alexander Mourant, Bart Lunenburg and Jan McCullough.

The exhibition drew on Bodø's history as a city of continuous architectural change and renewal since the bombing of World War II. The exhibition brought together photography, sculpture and installation to explore themes of architecture, construction and reinvention. Curatored by Alexander Mourant.

Jan McCullough exhibited Constructions (2019), photographs of sculptures made with large rolls of paper, and a collection of collage sketchbooks (2014-2022).

NŌUA is an artist-run institution for photography as contemporary art. Located in the small city of Bodø in the Norwegian arctic region, NŌUA is housed in one of the few post-war architecture buildings, built in 1944-48 by architect Kristof Lange.

‘I was delighted to travel to Bodø, Norway, to collaborate with artists Alexander Mourant and Bart Lunenburg in the co-creation and presentation of ‘At the Farthest Edge: Rebuilding Photography’ (2023) a site-specific sculptural and photographic installation at Atelier NŌUA, an artist-run institution for photography as contemporary art. Culture Moves Europe support enabled me to respond to the historical location, engage in conversations with other artists, and collaborate in building the installation. I also had the opportunity to exchange ideas with the public and curators, developing my work on an international platform and laying groundwork for future collaborations.’ Jan McCullough
