Creative Europe Cross Sector funding of €16m in support of EU journalism and media literacy

News Journalism Partnerships

News Journalism Partnerships will fund two actions or topics - pluralism and collaboration - to promote journalism partnerships with a total amount of €10.5 million.

• Topic 1: News Journalism Partnerships - Collaboration action aims to support cross-border, collaborative proposals between news media organisations focusing on innovative business models and journalistic projects across Europe. Deadline: 27th February 2025.
  
• Topic 2: News Journalism Partnerships - Pluralism is aimed at organisations that can set up and distribute funds to news media entities in sectors of particular relevance to democracy. organisations with experience in media will be able to set up and distribute funds to news media entities in media sectors of particular relevance for democracy, such as local and regional media, community media, investigative journalism or media specialised in public interest news. Deadline: 27th February 2025.

News Media Freedom Rapid Response Mechanism

The Rapid Response Mechanism call aims to create a rapid response system that will comprehensively monitor violations of press and media freedom across the EU, as well as across countries participating in the Creative Europe programme and candidate countries. The overall aim is that this monitoring will generate better data and insights into the risks of media freedom and pluralism. Deadline: 15th January 2025.

Media Literacy

This call supports innovative cross-border projects that help enhance media literacy skills in the EU and limit the detrimental impact of disinformation. The grants will encourage knowledge-sharing on media literacy practices, as well as scaling-up practices across national, cultural and linguistic borders. Deadline: 6th March 2025.
