News about European films supported by the EU funding and highlighting independent cinemas and cinema clubs that are part of the Europa Cinemas network in Ireland. Includes films made thanks to EU initiatives such as Eurimages Cinema Fund, European Film Promotion as well as events such as the European Film Awards, European Cinema Month, A Season of Classic Films, and the LUX Audience Award.

Cork International Film Festival, 6 - 16 November 2025

The 70th Cork International Film Festival will take place from Thursday 6th to Sunday 16th November. The festival is proudly supported by Creative Europe MEDIA.

Over 11 days, audiences in Cork will get the poortunity to see Irish and world premieres and gala screenings, plus special events to mark its 70th anniversary at venues across Cork City and county, including The Everyman.

Some highlights include:

  • Spirit of the Festival - the best of new European cinema. These filmmakers wowed us with their first or second feature film and will compete for the Spiorad na Féile (Spirit of the Festival) Best Film and Best Screenplay awards. Screenings include A Year of School (Italy, France); We Believe You (Belgium); Strange River (Spain); Bearcave (Greece).
  • World Tour - International must-sees directed by filmmakers in full control of their artform’s powers. Films include A Private Life (France); À Bout de Souffle (France); It Was Just An Accident (Iran, France, Luxembourg); The Ice Tower (France, Germany, Italy).
  • Screen Green - Three must-see films that highlight, each in its own way, urgent issues related to climate change and the environment, and promote actions to make positive changes in communities. Blame (switzerland); Climate in Therapy (Sweden, Norway); Peak Everything (Amour Apocalypse) (Canada).

IFI French Film Festival, 19 - 30 November

The Irish Film Institute’s French Film Festival runs from Wednesday 19th November to Sunday 30th November 30th. This year’s festival will include 22 Irish premieres, a collection of brilliant comedies and dramas, thought-provoking documentaries, and a beautifully animated film for all the family. As always, the IFI French Film Festival will be the only opportunity for audiences to experience many of the films on the big screen.

IFI@Home French Film Festival, 21 - 28 November

For those unable to join the IFI at Eustace Street, IFI@Home offers a selection from the festival programme to enjoy in the comfort of your own home. Films available on IFI@Home as part of the IFI French Film Festival 2025 will be available to watch for a limited time only, from 21st November until 28th November.

Souleymane’s Story | The Lighthouse, Dublin

Set over a tense 48 hours, Abou Sangare plays a Guinean asylum seeker who races through the streets of Paris delivering food as he awaits his asylum interview which will decide whether or not he will be granted residency. French with English subtitles.

Hidden Assets 3 | Starts Sunday, 9th November, 9:30pm on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player

Hidden Assets 3 is supported by MEDIA as were series one and two. Nora-Jane Noone returns as DS Claire Wallace alongside Cathy Belton as Norah Dillon and Aaron Monaghan as DS Sean Prendergast.

When investigative reporter Olatz Alzola and her family are brutally murdered in Bilbao, DS Claire Wallace is drawn into a case that links their killings to a CAB raid in Ireland that ended in tragedy.
