The collective of 3 artists - Lana May Fleming, Luke van Gelderen and Frances Hennigan -participated in a collaborative working residency hosted by Kulturforum Witten.
During this residency, each CRUX member created a new body of work, which was exhibited later as REAL in Witten helping them to form a creative network in Germany.
Through video, performance, sculpture, and installation the work created explored how identities are shaped by social media platforms and algorithmic mechanics, altering perceptions of masculinity, female self-image, and political ideology.
The audience included members of the NRW creative community and the general public in Witten and Kulturforum’s network of local creative professionals including their fellows of Urban Digital Culture.

‘Our collective, hosted by Kulturforum Witten, created important professional connections and facilitated an engagement in cross-disciplinary learning and experimentation around shared themes in our individual artistic research. Their Digilab and fully equipped workshop gave us the opportunity to develop our digital and material practices. The outreach and networking in the project provided greater visibility for our emerging practices. This support endorsed the collective's first major international project and first residency as a group; which in turn gave the group the experience to skill share not only between members but also a wider network of local artists, curators and technicians. The residency helped CRUX cultivate a methodology of working on communal artworks together in a shared space, which provided a framework for future collaborations and opportunities in both Ireland, Germany and potentially other countries.’ Lana May Fleming, Luke van Gelderen, and Frances Hennigan.Across Borders - Across the Board (2023 - 2024)

CRUX an artist-run collective founded in 2020 in Dublin by Frances Hennigan, Lana May Fleming, and Luke van Gelderen, is dedicated to digital and nomadic art projects. Notable recent endeavours include the off-site exhibition and accompanying website ‘crux.project’ at Rathmichael Ringfort, Dublin (2020), and inclusion in "Return to Disintegration--Periodical Review 11” at Pallas Projects/Studios (2021).
